Who We Are
The FLMC at Forbes School combines a school library media  center and a family literacy collection housed in a multi-purpose space.  It has  been created to reflect our understanding that
literacy begins with a child's  most important teacher: the parent and caregiver. The Forbes FLMC supports  teaching and learning at home and school, building relationships which support the child along the continuum from preschool to Grade 5.
Our Mission
Our combined Family Library Media Center and Community Family Literacy Center provide access  to quality materials to support learning. Our mission is to help families of the
Torrington District school community become effective users of ideas and information.
We support:
    1. Teaching and learning within Forbes School by providing materials (in print and electronic formats) and instruction to our K - 5 learning community.

    2. Enriching lives across generations by connecting parents and children in Pre-k - Grade 5; families which learn together build parterships using FLMC/CFLC materials in print and electronic formats.

    3. Teaching and learning at the pre-kindergarten level by providing preschool teachers access to resources to enrich lessons.

Our Purpose
To provide access to quality materials to teachers, parents/caregivers, children and preschool teachers in the Torrington school district.
